Kingsbridge National Night Out UP-Date

On October 4, Kingsbridge westside had their first NNO.  A core group of six home owners hand distributed approximately 300 flyers created and provided by Mrs. Kimberly Robinson.  The event gathering was at the park at the end of Emery Hill Drive.  At first turnout appeared small, but approximately 7:00pm, we had a very solid group of approximately 70 home owners, plus children.  A sign-in sheet was provided with each attendee putting their name and email address.  (Since then, Mrs. Robinson has put together a group list called the Kingsbridge 70.  The event included Neighborhood Watch information, sandwiches, chips and drinks, a map of the neighborhood and a childrens craft table.  We also had several people volunteer as future block captains for Neighborhood Watch programs. John Pertgen, president of our HOA also attended the gathering.

Wayne Thompson gave a brief summary of crime prevention strategies for our community:  1)  Crime in the general Mission Bend areas has substantially increased in recent months.  2)  The neighborhood needs to be proactive in confronting the potential threat.  3)  Leave any confrontation to a crime to the Sheriff’s department – be their eyes and ears.  3)  Include those who are attending to be included in the neighborhood data base.

The original core group declared this a huge success.  By way of this article, thanks needs to go to the following participating core: Jeff and Alyson Smith, Betty and Simone Braun, Quan and Kimberly Robinson, Michael Shum, Mr. Malik, Wayne Kristian Thompson and Tina Thompson.
