Press Release

The Greater Mission Bend Area Council is sponsoring a County Commissioners Forum.

Guest speakers are Harris Commissioner Steve Radack, Fort Bend County Commissioner Andy Meyers and Fort Bend Commissioner Grady Prestage.

The Event will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 between 9:00 A.M. and 12:00 P.M. at the Mission Bend United Methodist Church located at 3710 Hwy 6 South, Houston, Texas 77082.

This meeting provides an opportunity for people in the community to connect with their commissioners.  This is not a “speech making” meeting.  Commissioners will make brief statements, but this is actually an opportunity for the commissioners to dialogue with members of the community.  The Commissioners will respond to questions from the audience.  Subjects to be discussed will include:

  • What are the functions of the County Commissioners and what are their duties?
  • What is Harris County’s forecast for growth in the Mission Bend area for the future?
  • What is the Fort Bend County’s opinion about extending Bellaire to Highway 99?
  • Is there a method for controlling urban blight in our precincts?

The Goal of the Greater Mission Bend Area Council is to provide a voice for the 60,000 citizens of the Greater Mission Bend area to present and address our common issues.

The Greater Mission Bend Area Council was formed August 16, 2007 by a group of citizens of who live in Mission Bend and surrounding neighborhoods who came together to address the many issues confronting our neighborhoods.
